New rules for nonprofits

cleologoThe Ontario government is modernizing the law that governs how nonprofit organizations operate. The new law is Ontario’s Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010, or the ONCA. If your nonprofit organization is incorporated in Ontario, this site can help you prepare for the ONCA with:

  • background on the ONCA in plain English
  • helpful planning and work tools
  • webinars and other educational events
  • links to other resources

Note:
The Ontario Nonprofit Network is advocating for the Act to be proclaimed as soon as possible and will continue to bring forward reforms to improve the ONCA following proclamation. For updates, visit: http://theonn.ca/what-we-do/onca.

Visit the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services’ ONCA site for a guide, default bylaw, transition checklist, and more. You can also access this information in French.
